The unique aspect of the programme is the month-long training/apprenticeship at a publishing house which carries a small stipend and the possibility of employment thereafter. The training is under the auspices of Federation of Indian Publishers (FIB) with whom IGNOU has a tie-up and trainees would get a Joint Certificate both from IGNOU and FIB on successful completion of the training.
There are eight (8) courses in the programme of which courses 1-4 are compulsory and 5-7 are electives. Course 8 is a compulsory course where learners would get to work for a project with a publishing house for which they will be evaluated and get a separate Certificate of Completion.
